Our team continuously strive to meet and exceed your expectations and continue to develop their skills to create a truly memorable dining experience. We are very fortunate to have a team that continually improves through their hard work and on-going training. We are committed to making our guests feel as though they are an extended member of our family.
Owner - Head Chef
Mathew has a wealth of experience in the industry spending years traveling interstate and abroad, most recently helping redevelop one of Tasmania’s true dining institutes “Franklin Manor” on the West coast of Strahan.
His love for local produce, using fresh and seasonal ingredients where possible and connecting with the producers has seen the creation of a stylish contemporary Tasmanian menu. The experience gained throughout his travels is reflected in the team of young professionals he has been able to recruit and guide, making this a truly remarkable experience and venue in Ulverstone on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
Krystel trained at one of Tasmania’s most renowned establishments, Stillwater, under long-time Head Chef Don Cameron. Krystel's passion for the industry along with creating new desserts for our pastry section can only be stated as second to none. Since Pier01 opened its doors, the pastry and dessert section has been under Krystel’s guidance, continuing to develop, evolve and tantalise tastebuds. Pier01 and Krystel have quickly become renowned for the detail and taste associated with the desserts. Having set the standard for delicious desserts on Tasmania's North West Coast Krystel refuses to rest and continues training and refining her skills.
Senior Sous Chef
Brad has had a extensive career working on the North West Coast of Tasmania. This is Brad's first senior role and is one that he has embraced making it his own whilst offering all staff around him support and guidance. Don't be fooled by Brad's professional manner, as staff have learnt he loves a good joke and prank.
Jo came to Pier01 initially through work placement whilst completing her Certificate 2 in Hospitality. Shortly after, Jo joined the team as kitchenhand, subsequently progressing to an apprenticeship. Jo has established herself as a passionate and thoughtful member of the Pier01 team, supporting her coworkers at every opportunity.
With an appetite for development and knowledge plus strong focus, Jo is continually mastering kitchen finesse and pushing boundaries, proving she is a talented chef in the making.
Front of House Supervisor
Casey is known to all as the girl with the endless smile. Casey started working at Pier01 just for a job but in no time at all turned it into a career.
The energy, enthusiasm and professionalism that Casey brings to our establishment is amazing and inspiring.
Casey may be a young lady of little stature but this doesn’t hold her back in her desire to create a remarkable dining experience for all guests. While she is at work, nothing can hold this up comer from delivering on her service goals .
Front of House Professional
Nicole has been with Pier01 since we opened our doors in 2012. With 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry and having worked overseas in the UK and Japan plus in 5 star and silver service restaurants, Nicole brings a vast array of knowledge and experience to our Pier01 team. A strong love of customer service and being great with people is a combination guaranteed to give you the customer the most amazing experience whilst dining at Pier01.
The newest member to the Pier01 team who joined to develop her knowledge and skills in the hospitality industry. A lively individual who was born to work in the industry came to Pier01 from a small establishment. Leah has embraced her transformation into the fine dining sector and continues to learn and develop through training and her peers. Watch this space as Leah will be someone we are talking about in years to come.
The behind the scenes man and muscles of Pier01, Luke keeps everything in order in the kitchen to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests. A thoughtful and fair team player, Luke is always looking to learn and develop new skills and expand his horizons plus a visionary who is always generating new ideas and methods. You may not see him, but if you are enjoying your time at Pier01, Luke would be working hard behind the scenes to ensure this.
Functions, Promotions & Marketing Manager
Kirsten came to join the team at Pier01 in early 2016, taking on a brand new role managing the events and marketing. A detail-orientated professional with strengths in event creation, planning and execution, Kirsten has experience in a diverse range of events from gala dinners to triathlons to weddings to corporate events. Being truly passionate about what she does enabled the creation of unique and memorable experiences to make each and every event truly special.
